The Wedding

The start of a new beginning

A possible course of events

The estate offers a great variety of possibilities when it comes to planning a wedding. The couple, as well as the guests, can arrive by boat over the canal. Where this gives a bright perspective during summer, it can also provide for a romantic ambiance on a winter evening.

When the water is not your style, an entrance through the 17th century garden will emphasise the sense of harmony. Walking under the pear tree arches and continuing passed the small pond where frogs croak, leaving one garden in order to enter another  you will walk along the trimmed hedges until the Van Balckeneynde comes into full sight. Then being welcomed by your friends and family can only be completed by a shower of rose petals and cheers while walking over the path of white pebbles.

Wedding Ceremony, Celebratory Drinks &
Entrance through garden

  • Upon their arrival your guests are given a warm welcome in the foyer. This is also where they will hang their outergarment
  • They will elegantly make their way into the 'Salon Blue' where the cermony will take place.
  • Once the chamber has been filled up with your loved ones, music will start to play and the bride comes into sight and enters through the 17th century English period garden.
  • Being lead by the wedding officiant the ceremony will unfold.
  • Then all the guests together with the newly wed couple move outside into the garden where congratulations and celebrations are in order.
  • At an appointed time the bride and groom together with the guests leave the venue in order to proceed to the reception.

Wedding Ceremony, Dinner, Reception & Entrance  by boat

  • Your guests will gather in front of the Van Balckeneynde Venue. The groom will soon join the guests awaiting the brides arrival.
  • The bride will arrive by boat and will disembark the boat right in front of the Van Balckeneynde Venue. There the groom will take her hand and lead her up to the steps into the foyer and to the 'Salon Blue'.
  • Your guests and loved ones take their seats and the ceremony begins.
  • After the ceremony, the guests together with the newly wed couple move outdoors into the garden where congratulations and celebrations are in order.
  • In the meanwhile the 'Beletage' is transformed for the dinner and reception.
  • A delicious five course dinner is served for an intimate group of friends and family.
  • Afterwords everyone moves outside for the cutting of the cake and the reception with live music.

The Buitenmuseum: three museum houses next to each other, on one of the most beautiful and picturesque canals in The Hague. The house of the 17th century landscape painter Jan van Goyen and his son-in-law Jan Steen, and next to it the house of the painter Paulus Potter (known for “The Bull”).
Their paintings are displayed in museums all over the world, including the
Mauritshuis and the Haags Historisch Museum. But this is the place of origin, here are the houses where they lived and worked and where their paintings originated. The Buitenmuseum: a museum outside the traditional museums.
